Gribajcevic, Anna Kreetta, viola
Viola professor of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg since 2012, the Finnish violist Anna Kreetta Gribajcevic studied at the Sibelius Academy in her home town Helsinki and in Germany (Saarbrücken and Berlin) with Diemut Poppen and Kim Kashkashian. She has performed extensively as a soloist with orchestras like the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Les Siécles Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra London, with conductors including Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Sakari Oramo and Francois-Xavier Roth.
She gave the Finnish premieres of the Ligeti solo sonata and viola concertos by Kurtag and Schedrin. The recording of the Kalevi Aho viola concerto (label BIS, with Chamber Orchestra of Lapland, cond. John Storgards) won several awards both in Finland and abroad. A dedicated chamber musician, she performs at festivals worldwide and has collaborated with artists including Miriam Fried, Pekka Kuusisto, Julian Steckel, Frans Helmerson, Alexandre Tharaud and Olli
Mustonen.
Anna Kreetta Gribajcevic has occupied a position as principal viola in several Finnish orchestras, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra as well as Avanti Chamber Orchestra and Finnish Chamber Orchestra.
She has made several recordings for the labels BIS and Ondine and is artistic leader of the chamber music festival in Lohja, Finland, focusing on rarely performed chamber music.
