Prize of the German Music Record Review
About Us
The “Prize of the German Music Record Review“ in its present form was founded in 1960 by a group of music record critics who joined together to form an independent registered association. It follows on in the tradition of the first German music record prize of the same name which was established as a foundation in 1963 by the publisher Richard Kaselowsky from Bielefeld.
Chamber Music
Philipp Scharwenka: violin sonates op. 110 & 114, suite for violin and piano op. 99. Natalia Prishepenko, Oliver Triendl. TYXart T 16075 ( Note 1 )
At the beginning of the twentieth century a lot of technically very well- composed music was superseded by expressionism and dodecaphony among them the works by Scharwenka recorded here which are mature later expressions of his work. They were released between 1896 and 1904 and were composed totally in his tradition. Delicate melody creation meets passages dominated by rhythm; contrasts and vacillations between eulogic serenity and condensed tension seem classically balanced. Prishepenko plays with lyrical intensity particular to her and Oliver Triendl is her perceptive partner, both in perfect harmony with one another. Thus from the very first note this recording conveys Scharwenka`s melancholy, nervous music in a gripping way ( for the jury: Elisabeth Richter )
The CD “Scharwenka“ ( Order No. TXA16075/GTIN ( EAN ) 4250702800750 ) was presented with the “Prize of the German Music Record Review“ ( PdSK ) in the list 3/2016 by the PsSK jury in the category “chamber music“.
